Dear colleagues,
On behalf of the Organizing Committee I am pleased to invite you to the 2nd International Workshop on Environmental Microbiology (II WIMA) to be held in Aracaju-Sergipe (Brazil) in June 17th to the 20th 2008.
The WIMA Workshop is an event dedicated to different topics dealing with Environmental Microbiology, such as Aquatic Microbiology, Soil Microbiology, Biological Control, Environmental Monitoring and Protection, Community Genomics (Metagenomics) and Microbial Diversity, Bioprospection, Molecular Biology, Environmental Biotechnology, Biodegradation, Biodeterioration, Biocorrosion, Bioremediation, and Enzyme Technology.
The 1st WIMA took place in Campinas-Sao Paulo (Brazil) in 2005, assembling over three hundred scientists from different countries. In its second edition, the workshop will take place in Northeast Brazil: and Aracaju is a wonderful place to stay combining the scientific aspect of the Workshop with the unique tropical landscape, typical Sergipe food, music and handicraft. June is the best time to visit Aracaju and watch the beautiful popular performances during San Juan celebrations, which include folk music (forró) and the some of the best quadrilhas in Brazil. Attendants of this Workshop will be privileged to enjoy all these aspects.
The 2nd WIMA scientific presentations, the poster discussion and all conferences will take place at University Tiradentes - Campus Farolandia, which is located near the main shopping areas of the city and near the main beaches, restaurants and hotels. The Campus offers complete food, drugstore, Internet, parking and shopping facilities and will allow close contact among the participants to discuss their own experience in addition to the scientific sessions.
We hope the 2nd WIMA will bring together scientists of different areas, engineers, business leaders and government officials to foster and enhance collaborative contacts, and to exchange information in the many interdisciplinary areas of Environmental Microbiology.
